Tax - Back on the Menu

Tax breaks for the video games sector and wider creative sector (which also includes animation and television production) will come into effect from April 2013. This tax relief will lessen the financial risk of producing new games and enable games studios to invest in more staff. Reduced financial risk will also make it easier for games developers who are fresh out of university to start their own companies.

The new tax breaks will ensure that the UK continues to remain a world leader in the high technology video games development industry but with some bloggers asking if the new tax relief ‘cultural test’ will lead to ‘Grand Theft Coventry’ - are you ready for these new changes?  Steve Cartwright and Dougy Agnew from Henderson Loggie’s Video Games Group will take you through the qualifications for the tax breaks, the cultural test and some case study examples
